<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>To illuminate an unexplained role</bold> of the zinc site of copper–zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu‐Zn SOD), synthetic zinc complexes as models of Cu‐Zn SOD were spectroscopically and structurally characterized. In their Communication on <ext-link ext-link-type="doi" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">page 12293 ff.</ext-link>, H.
