<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Taking pole position</bold>: The relative position of the ring bridging has a unique and remarkable effect on the spectroscopic properties of dihydroindeno[1, 2‐<italic>a</italic>]/ [2, 1‐<italic>b</italic>]fluorenes (see picture). These blue‐emitting positional isomers have been successfully used as the emitting layer in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs), with performance among the highest reported for dihydroindenofluorene‐based OLEDs.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg4t3hx7zj" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
