- <abstract abstract-type="main" id="nph12651-abs-0001"> <title>Summary</title> <p> <list id="nph12651-list-0001" list-type="bullet"> <list-item> <p>Successful pathogens counter immunity at multiple levels, mostly through the action of effectors. <italic>Pseudomonas syringae</italic> secretes <italic>c</italic>. 30 effectors, some of which have been shown to inhibit plant immunity triggered upon perception of conserved pathogen‐associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). One of these is HopM1, which impairs late immune responses through targeting the vesicle trafficking‐related AtMIN7 for degradation.</p> </list-item> <list-item> <p>Here, we report that <italic>in planta</italic> expressed HopM1 suppresses two early PAMP‐triggered responses, the oxidative burst and stomatal immunity, both of which seem to require proteasomal function but are independent of AtMIN7.
