Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" id="jmp12093-abs-0001"> <title>Abstract</title> <sec id="jmp12093-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <title>Background</title> <p>Toxoplasmosis led to the death of two <italic>Brachyteles arachnoides, </italic> an endangered atelid.</p> </sec> <sec id="jmp12093-sec-0002" sec-type="section"> <title>Methods</title> <p>The diagnosis was established by necropsy, histopathological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural changes.</p> </sec> <sec id="jmp12093-sec-0003" sec-type="section"> <title>Results</title> <p>The analysis confirms the presence of <italic>Toxoplasma gondii</italic>.</p> </sec> <sec id="jmp12093-sec-0004" sec-type="section"> <title>Conclusions</title> <p>This report contributes to the development of protocols for health surveillance on maintenance and conservation of southern muriquis.</p> </sec> </abstract>
