- <abstract abstract-type="main"> <title>ABSTRACT</title> <p>In this article, a printed triangular‐shaped monopole antenna is proposed for emerging ultrawideband application. The proposed antenna uses a triangular radiating patch which is directly fed by a 50‐Ω microstrip feed line. To improve the impedance bandwidth, a round‐corner ground plane has been used. To further improve the impedance bandwidth for the entire band, a microstrip transition (near the antenna front end) has been introduced between the microstrip feed line and the triangular radiator that provides a wide impedance bandwidth from 1.8 to 15.0 GHz for <alternatives><inline-graphic mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg4sw19qjb" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /><mml:math display="inline" altimg="urn:x-wiley:08952477:media:mop28290:mop28290-math-0001" overflow="scroll" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo stretchy="true">|</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mi>S</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mn>11</mml:mn></mml:mrow></mml:msub></mml:mrow><mml:mo stretchy="true">|</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:mrow></mml:mrow></mml:mrow></mml:math></alternatives> ≤ −10 dB.
