<abstract abstract-type="graphical"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Cover:</bold> A promising technology for thermal protection systems (TPSs) is called HIAD (hypersonic inflatable aerodynamic decelerator). This technology uses flexible materials to protect the vehicle. To overcome the limits of current HIADs, the researchers envisioned a new, "armadillo‐like" concept for TPSs.
