Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="crat201300171-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>The diamond like carbon coatings (DLC) of 400 nm thickness was deposited on etched and non‐etched tungsten carbide‐cobalt (WC‐Co) and stainless steel (SUS) substrates by filtered cathodic vacuum arc system. Raman studies showed the broad peak ∼1550 cm⁻¹ indicates the formation of amorphous carbon or diamond‐like carbon. It was found that the DLC coatings indictaed the low friction coefficient of ∼0.12–0.14 on the plasma etched WC‐Co and SUS substrates.
