Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>On the other hand</bold>: Azoarene compounds with axially chiral binaphthyl units of the same and opposite chiral configurations were doped into achiral liquid crystals (LCs). They were found to efficiently induce self‐organized helical superstructures, which could be reversibly tuned by light irradiation using <italic>trans</italic>–<italic>cis</italic> photoisomerization to change the handedness of the helix (see scheme) in LC hosts.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg36jz8fm0" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
