<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Illuminating results</bold>: Activation of non‐emissive [Au^III(N N N)(NHC)]⁺ complexes (such as <bold>1</bold>) through reduction by intracellular glutathione gives active Au^I–NHC complexes, which show promising anti‐cancer properties, accompanied by release of the highly fluorescent ligand.
