<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Turning on your P/C</bold>: An amorphous phosphorus/carbon (a‐P/C) composite was synthesized using simple mechanical ball milling of red phosphorus and conductive carbon powders. This material gave an extraordinarily high sodium ion storage capacity of 1764 mA h g⁻¹ (see graph) with a very high rate capability, showing great promise as a high capacity and high rate anode material for sodium ion batteries.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg1xps7vfn" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
