<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>A Missing Gold Link</bold>: An Au^III alkene complex has been prepared and characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X‐ray crystallography. Its bonding features have been analyzed by DFT calculations and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. In [(cod)AuMe₂]⁺, the unequal AuC bond lengths result from the domination of the preference of 1, 5‐cyclooctadiene (cod) for nonparallel double bonds over back donation from the metal which favors parallel double bonds.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg1v48gdf6" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
