Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Making Ns meet</bold>: Triphenylphosphinazine N₂(PPh₃)₂ is a donor–acceptor complex between nitrogen in the highly excited ¹Γ_{<italic>g</italic>} state and two anti‐periplanar coordinated phosphine ligands (see structure). Although the dissociation into N₂+2 PPh₃ is calculated to be exergonic by 75 kcal mol⁻¹, the compound is kinetically very stable as a result of the very large Lewis acidity of N₂ in the excited ¹Γ_{<italic>g</italic>} state.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg1ts9s4kj" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
