Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Much π and no σ</bold>: Quantum chemical calculations showed that the Ge atoms of the Ga₂Ge₂ core in Ge₂[Ga(DPP)]₂ are not bonded by σ interactions, but rather by a transannular π interaction (see picture). The compound is formed by reduction of (PCy₃)⋅GeCl₂ with Ga(DDP)/KC₈ which also yielded a further product Ge₄[Ga(DPP)]₂ with a Ge₄ tetrahedron (DDP=HC(CMeNC₆H₃‐2, 6‐<italic>i</italic>Pr₂)₂).<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg1pjrpxc3" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
