<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Covalent grafting of methyl groups onto the basal plane of graphene</bold> is achieved through a photochemical reaction between graphene and di‐<italic>tert</italic>‐butyl peroxide. The methylation of graphene is found to be reversible.
