- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>A facile electrochemical method to selectively remove the outer walls of anodic TiO<sub>2</sub> nanotubes</bold> by leaving the as‐anodized nanotubes in the same electrolyte and applying an electric field parallel to the anodic film for several minutes is reported. The better‐separated single‐walled TiO<sub>2</sub> nanotubes thus obtained show significantly improved photocatalytic efficiency compared with their non‐etched counterparts. <boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg1qb0qbsf" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
