Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>Pd‐mediated polymerization of 1‐pyrenylmethyl diazoacetates affords poly(1‐pyrenylmethoxycarbonylmethylene) (poly<bold>4′</bold>), whose CC main chain is tightly surrounded by pyrene groups. The intensity ratio of excimer emission to monomer emission (<italic>I</italic>_E/<italic>I</italic>_M) of poly<bold>4′</bold> was more than 20 times higher than that of its vinyl polymer counterpart of poly(1‐pyrenylmethyl methacrylate) (polyPyrMA), clearly demonstrating much higher efficiency for excimer formation in poly<bold>4′</bold>, because of the tight arrangement of the pyrene groups around the main chain. <boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg1tvbbr7b" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
