Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>And isn′t it uronic:</bold> A mild, highly efficient and selective catalytic oxidation of pectin‐derived uronic acids to the corresponding aldaric acids is reported. Fast, quantitative conversions (&gt;99 %) of the starting materials are achieved with high selectivity (&gt;97 %) at room temperature, using supported gold catalysts and air as oxidizing agent.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg3hh5gpwm" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
