<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Turn me on</bold>: A new "turn‐on" 1, 8‐naphthalimide‐type chemosensor <bold>1</bold> has been prepared and exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity towards Hg²⁺ ions over other heavy‐ and transition‐metal ions in aqueous solution, accompanied by the transformation of a weakly fluorescent thiourea moiety (colorless) to a highly fluorescent urea one (green) with an increase in fluorescence intensity.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg2710w6hp" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
