Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>A water‐swellable rubber (WSR) compatibilized by a functional graft copolymer, CPE‐<italic>g</italic>‐GMA, has been prepared by blending chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) with a superabsorbent resin (SAR) poly(acrylic acid‐<italic>co</italic>‐acrylamide) [P(AA–AM)]. The dependence of the WSR's water‐absorbent properties on the SAR and the CPE‐<italic>g</italic>‐GMA contents was investigated, such as two cycles of swelling and drying by weight, and the weight percentage loss.
