Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Phytochemical investigation on the leaves of <italic>Neolamarckia cadamba</italic> led to the isolation of four new indole alkaloids, spirocadambine (<bold>1</bold>), dehydraisodihydrocadambine (<bold>2</bold>), nitrocadambines A and B (<bold>3</bold> and <bold>4</bold>). The structures and relative configurations were established by 1D and 2D NMR spectra. Spirocadambine (<bold>1</bold>) represents a new type of screw ring containing indole glucoalkaloids.</p> </abstract>
