- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Single crystals of (NH<sub>4</sub>)<sub>14</sub> [Hf<sub>9</sub>O<sub>8</sub>(OH)<sub>6</sub>(SO<sub>4</sub>)<sub>14</sub>] ·nH<sub>2</sub>O (n ≅ 12.5) are grown by heating an aqueous solution of HfOCl<sub>2</sub>, (NH<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub>SO<sub>4</sub>, and H<sub>2</sub>SO<sub>4</sub> (pH 0.93, sealed glass vial, 80 °C, 10 d; 54% yield).</p> </abstract>
