- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>The red emitting title phosphors are prepared by solid state reaction of stoichiometric mixtures of Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, Eu<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, CaCO<sub>3</sub>, and GeO<sub>2</sub> (1250 °C, 72 h) and by an EDTA‐complexing process from nitric acid solutions of Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, Eu<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, and CaCO<sub>3</sub>, EDTA, and ammonia solutions of GeO<sub>2</sub> (annealing at 1100 °C, 6 h).</p> </abstract>
