- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="adma201300818-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Lasers based on biomaterials</bold> known as Generally‐Recognized‐As‐Safe (GRAS) substances approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are demonstrated. Vitamin B2‐doped microdroplet lasers are generated and trapped on a super‐hydrophobic poly‐L‐lactic acid substrate. The spheres support whispering gallery mode lasing at optical pump energies as low as 15 nJ per pulse (≈1 kW/mm<sup>2</sup>). <boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg3t123kz4" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
