<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>The photocatalyst BiFeO<sub>3</sub> and multiferroic Co substituted BiFeO<sub>3</sub> (BiFe<sub>0.95</sub>Co<sub>0.05</sub>O<sub>3</sub>) perovskite are synthesized by a tartaric acid modified sol—gel method involving Bi(NO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>3</sub>, Fe(NO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>3</sub>, and Co(NO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub> hydrates in stoichiometric proportions.</p> </abstract>
