Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Stimulating encounter</bold>: The intimate, physical interaction between the soil‐derived bacterium <italic>Streptomyces rapamycinicus</italic> and the human pathogenic fungus <italic>Aspergillus fumigatus</italic> led to the activation of an otherwise silent polyketide synthase (PKS) gene cluster coding for an unusual prenylated polyphenol (fumicycline A).
