- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>The 2′, 3′‐<italic>O</italic>‐levulinic acid derivative <bold>2b</bold> of the cancerostatic 5‐fluorouridine as well as its <italic>N(3)</italic>‐farnesylated nucleolipid <bold>2d</bold> were synthesized and coupled to H<sub>2</sub>O‐soluble chitosanes of different molecular weight and at various pH values (3.5–5.5) leading to <bold>6</bold> and <bold>7</bold>. In addition, the coumarine fluorophore ATTO‐488 <italic>N(9)</italic>‐butanoate was bound to the biopolymer by a sequential‐coupling technique to afford <bold>9</bold> and <bold>10</bold>. Moreover, chitosan foils were prepared, to which <bold>2b</bold> was coupled. Their degradation by chitosanase (from <italic>Streptomyces</italic> sp. N174) was studied UV‐spectrophotometrically in a <italic>Franz</italic> diffusion cell.</p> </abstract>
