Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <sec id="ardp201300187-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <p>The design and synthesis of several new <italic>bis</italic>‐thiazoles <bold>4a</bold>–<bold>h</bold> serving as <italic>bis</italic>‐drugs in comparison with <italic>mono</italic>‐heterocyclic analogs are described. These <italic>bis</italic>‐drugs present superior medicinal and pharmacological activities against both gram‐negative (<italic>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</italic> and <italic>Escherichia coli</italic>) and gram‐positive (<italic>Micrococcus luteus</italic> and <italic>Bacillus subtilis</italic>) bacteria, which are in general more sensitive to compounds with higher hydrophobicity. Compounds with higher hydrophobicity (<bold>4d</bold> and <bold>4h</bold>) exhibited some activity against the gram‐negative bacteria.</p> </sec> </abstract>
