Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>Magnesium carbide (Mg₂C) was first suggested 20 years ago by ab initio calculations. In their Communication on <ext-link ext-link-type="doi" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">page 8930 ff.</ext-link>, T. A. Strobel and co‐workers describe the first synthesis of this methanide through the use of high‐pressure and high‐temperature methods.
