- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Complex hollow tube‐in‐tube nanostructures</bold> have been fabricated for many metal oxides through a general strategy, as described by X. W. Lou, Y. Xie, et al. in their Communication on <ext-link ext-link-type="doi" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">page 8643 ff.</ext-link> The method involves two simple steps: coating carbon nanofibers with a layer of metal glycolate and subsequent calcination in air. The unique complex tubular metal oxide structures are promising electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction and electrode materials for lithium ion batteries.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg36jx3nhk" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
