- <abstract abstract-type="main"> <title>ABSTRACT</title> <p> <italic>A</italic> simple design procedure for a double ridge waveguide low‐pass filter (LPF) is proposed in this article. The procedure follows similar steps involved in a stepped impedance microstrip LPF. The starting point is calculating lumped element low‐pass prototypes and converting them to the double ridge waveguide sections. Step discontinuities are also studied and a lumped element model is proposed by comparing S parameters calculated by HFSS software. The results are then applied to design a six order maximally flat double ridge LPF with 4 GHz cutoff frequency. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
