Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Two new amides, claulansamides A and B (<bold>1</bold> and <bold>2</bold>, resp.), together with five known amides, <bold>3</bold>–<bold>7</bold> and six known quinolones, <bold>8</bold>–<bold>13</bold>, were isolated from the stems and roots of <italic>Clausena lansium.</italic> Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods. Their absolute configurations were determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction technique, CD, and optical rotation. HPLC Chiral separation of <bold>1</bold> afforded two enantiomers, (+)‐ and (−)‐claulansamide A, respectively. Compounds <bold>9, 12</bold>, and <bold>13</bold> were isolated from the genus <italic>Clausena</italic> for the first time. All compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against A549, BGC‐823, and HeLa cancer cell lines. However, only <bold>9</bold> showed cytotoxic activity against A549 cell line with an <italic>IC</italic>₅₀ value of 46.3 μ<sc>M</sc>, and <bold>11</bold> against BGC‐823 and HeLa cell lines with the <italic>IC</italic>₅₀ values of 55.0 and 14.7 μ<sc>M</sc>, respectively.</p> </abstract>
