Abstract

<abstract> <title>Abstract</title> <p> <italic>Objective.</italic> To improve the archiving rate of discharge medical records. <italic>Methods</italic>. By applying the plan-do-check-action (PDCA) method to carry out statistical analysis on the archiving status of medical records in seven days from January to September 2013, so as to identify problems, draw up a plan, and then evaluate the rectification results. <italic>Results.</italic> The archiving rate of medical records in seven days has increased from 66% in January to 99.8% in September; the archiving rate in 3 days has also increased from 21.4% in January to 79.3% in September. <italic>Conclusion.</italic> By using the PDCA management method to monitor the medical record archiving, the understanding of its importance in hospital departments at all grades in the hospital are improved, the degree of standardization is further strengthened, the archiving rate is significantly improved, and meanwhile, the working efficiency and the service quality are improved.</p> </abstract>
