<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>RbLn[Ge(CN<sub>2</sub>)<sub>4</sub>] (I) (Ln: La, Pr, Nd, Gd) and RbLn[Si(CN<sub>2</sub>)<sub>4</sub>] (II) are prepared by solid state metathesis reaction of stoichiometric mixtures of LnCl<sub>3</sub>, Rb<sub>2</sub>[GeF<sub>6</sub>] or Rb<sub>2</sub>[SiF<sub>6</sub>], and Li<sub>2</sub>(CN<sub>2</sub>) (evacuated silica ampoule, for (I): 450 °C, 1 d; for (II): 550 °C, 2 d).</p> </abstract>
