<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>It is found that treatment of benzaldehydes of type (I) and (V) with 0.7 equivalents of Jones oxidant followed by column chromatography on silica gel pre‐eluted with NEt<sub>3</sub> results in efficient formation of 3‐acyl‐2‐naphthols.</p> </abstract>
