- <abstract abstract-type="main"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>A series of <italic>N</italic>‐heterocyclic carbene–PdCl<sub>2</sub>–imidazole [NHC–Pd(II)–Im] complexes were synthesized and the structure of most of them was unambiguously determined by X‐ray single‐crystal diffraction. The <named-content id="d611e818" content-type="chemicalTechnology" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">structure–activity relationship</named-content> of these complexes was investigated for the <named-content id="d611e821" content-type="reactionType" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Suzuki–Miyaura coupling</named-content> between 4‐methoxyphenyl chloride and phenylboronic acid, and the effect of the NHCs and Im moieties were fully discussed. The sterically hindered IPr‐based complex showed the highest <named-content id="d611e831" content-type="chemicalTechnology" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">catalytic activity</named-content>.
