Abstract

<abstract> <title>Abstract</title> <p>The complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced from the freshwater cyprinid fish, <italic>Acheilognathus somjinensis</italic>. The genome sequence is 16, 569 bp in size, and the gene order and contents are identical with the congeneric species <italic>A. yamatsutae, A. koreensis</italic> and <italic>A. intermedia</italic>. Of 13 protein-coding genes (<italic>PGC</italic>s), three genes (<italic>CO2, CO3, Cytb</italic>) had an incomplete stop codon as shown in the genus <italic>Acheilognathus</italic>. The base composition of <italic>A. somjinensis</italic> showed anti-G bias (13.58% and 12.21%) on the second and third positions of <italic>PCG</italic>s but not high (4.8% on the third position of <italic>PCG</italic>s) as present in the river lamprey, <italic>Lampetra japonica</italic>.</p> </abstract>
