Abstract

<abstract> <title>Abstract</title> <p>The complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced from the anadromous river pufferfish, <italic>Takifugu obscurus</italic>. The genome sequence was 16, 446 bp in size, and the gene order and contents were identical with those of congeneric species in the genus <italic>Takifugu</italic>. Of 13 protein-coding genes (PGCs), 2 genes (<italic>CO2</italic> and <italic>ND4</italic>) had incomplete stop codons as shown in <italic>T. obscurus</italic>. Furthermore, the stop codon of <italic>CO1</italic> and <italic>ND6</italic> genes was AGG. The base composition of <italic>T. obscurus</italic> mitogenome showed anti-G bias (13.2% and 6.4%) on the second and third positions of protein-coding genes (PCGs), respectively.</p> </abstract>
