- <abstract abstract-type="main" id="jace12731-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>Two new MAX compounds, (Cr<sub>2/3</sub>Ti<sub>1/3</sub>)<sub>3</sub>AlC<sub>2</sub> and (Cr<sub>5/8</sub>Ti<sub>3/8</sub>)<sub>4</sub>AlC<sub>3</sub>, were successfully synthesized by hot‐pressing elemental powders at 1500°C for 1 h under 30 MPa in a flowing argon atmosphere. Their crystal structures were indentified and characterized by X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analysis. (Cr<sub>2/3</sub>Ti<sub>1/3</sub>)<sub>3</sub>AlC<sub>2</sub> and (Cr<sub>5/8</sub>Ti<sub>3/8</sub>)<sub>4</sub>AlC<sub>3</sub> have the same crystal structures with the well‐characterized Ti<sub>3</sub>AlC<sub>2</sub> and Ti<sub>4</sub>AlN<sub>3</sub>, respectively.</p> </abstract>
