Abstract

<abstract> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>In this study, the complete mitochondrial DNA genome sequence of <italic>Rastrelliger kanagurta</italic> has been determined. The mitogenome was 16, 537 bp in length. It consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 non-coding regions. The A+T content of the mitochondrial genome of <italic>R. kanagurta</italic> was 52.29%, and the content was 26.92% for A, 30.67% for C, 17.03% for G, and 25.37% for T. The complete mitogenome of <italic>R. kanagurta</italic> can provide an important data for the studies on molecular systematics, species identification, stock evaluation, conservation genetics, and evolutionary adaptation mechanisms.</p> </abstract>
