Abstract

<abstract> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>A case of hemangioma of the umbilical cord with an associated amnionic epithelial inclusion cyst (4.5 cm in maximum dimension), diagnosed by pathological examination at 26 weeks of gestation following in utero fetal demise, is reported. These are both uncommon lesions of the umbilical cord, and to our knowledge, have not been reported together. Prenatal ultrasound at 20 weeks of gestation had shown no fetal or placental abnormalities. The cyst formation may have been secondary to the hemangioma, possibly the result of damage to the amnion caused by the associated edema and myxomatous degeneration of Wharton's jelly.</p> </abstract>
