-
<title>Abstract</title> <p>Durkheim outlines how workforces become increasingly specialised as society expands, resulting not only in mutual dependence but also in strong social and cultural distinctions between different professional specialisations. Modern studies of crime prevention exemplify this phenomenon. Crime scientists, criminologists and criminal justice practitioners frequently disagree over the differences and utility of their respective disciplines, almost to the point of neglecting their common goal of crime prevention. This article outlines the important distinctions between these three disciplines and seeks to demonstrate how they might work together to yield more effective crime prevention than any one of them accomplishes alone.</p>
