- Emotion regulation significantly improved following intensive trauma-focused therapy. Emotion regulation difficulties at baseline were not predictive of PTSD symptom reduction after treatment. The results provide disconfirmatory evidence for the notion that emotion regulation should be improved first prior to trauma-focused therapy for severe PTSD. 1
