- In a self-selected sample of respondents, one week after a terrorist attack, 'feeling threatened' was strongly associated with higher levels of mental and physical health problems. Three-quarters of the people who felt threatened reported at least a moderate level of mental or physical health problems. The most pronounced differences between people with low versus high levels of perceived threat were some physical health problems. 1
